The film is listed in the Guinness World Records as the highest-grossing live-action comedy ever and held the record until it was overtaken by The Hangover Part II in 2011. Columbus initially hoped to have Bruce Broughton score the film, and early posters listed him as the composer. However, Broughton was busy with The Rescuers Down Under, and he had to cancel at the last minute. Columbus was later able to get in touch with Steven Spielberg, who helped him contact John Williams to produce the final score. Traditional Christmas songs, such as "O Holy Night" and "Carol of the Bells", are featured prominently in the film, as well as the film's theme song "Somewhere in My Memory". The soundtrack was released by Sony Classical Records on cassette on December 4, 1990, and on CD on May 27, 2015.

While certainly not a great movie, it's still better than 4 and 5 thanks to its cinema-level budget. Though a bit dull and done before, it was at least made with quality kid humor in mind. And, despite its mixed critical reviews, Home Alone 3 was actually a success at the box office , bringing in a decent $79 million globally.
Connecticut mom left two kids home alone while she vacationed in Florida with boyfriend: cops
Kevin ends up setting a series of booby traps to catch the criminals. This is the only Home Alone reboot featuring Kevin, though Culkin did not reprise the role . In this film, Kevin McCallister's parents have separated. His father, Peter, is now living with his wealthy fiancée, Natalie.
Roebuck later said that, although he was upset to be fired from the production, he now believed the experience was "a little blip of unimportance". Chris Farley auditioned for the role of Santa Claus impersonator, but he failed to impress Columbus. Hughes suggested to Columbus that they cast Macaulay Culkin as Kevin, because of his experience while shooting Uncle Buck. Columbus met with 200 other actors for the part, as he felt it was his "directorial responsibility". John Mulaney was asked to audition for the role of Kevin after being scouted in a children’s sketch comedy group, but his parents refused the opportunity.

Naturally, Max was accidentally left behind and Home Alone madness begins. What's interesting though is that audiences finally get to view the experience through the eyes of the "bad guys"… and what we see is that they aren't actually bad, they're just desperate and want what is rightfully theirs. Home Alone is one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies. My kids have adopted my same obsession for the McCallister family, so Home Alone still holds up with a whole new generation.
The most tragic part of this entire film is that the new bandit duo is played by two very capable and funny actors, French Stewart and Missi Pyle. Sadly, a dead script and a lifeless new child actor suck away all the potential Pyle and Stewart could have brought to the film. Home Alone is one of those films that has virtually become synonymous with Christmastime, but which one is the best?

Kevin (Macaulay Culkin's only reprisal) is once again left behind, this time in New York City, with the very same "Wet Bandits" hot on his tail for seconds. Despite the movie being mostly recycled antics from the original film, pulling them out of suburbia and plopping them in the luxurious and expansive Big Apple makes it feel fresh and new. The newest Home Alone film actually has a surprising switch-up. In the movie, two parents are broke and about to lose their home. The problem is that it goes missing and they believe that Max, a kid who visited during an open house, stole it. We were so excited to see a Nativity Scene actually set up there!

This couple would spend the windfall paying down the mortgage of their house. Therefore, they are forced to consider selling their house and downsizing. Since all their family memories are in the house, they are hesitant to do so. They are also afraid to tell their kids they will sell the house. "There is no holiday without "Home Alone". When and where to watch the cult movie?". Kate realizes mid-flight that Kevin was left behind, and upon arrival in Paris, the family discovers that all flights for the next two days are booked, and that the phone lines are still down back home in Chicago.
Plot
Pesci later appeared in another ad where he watches the short with his friends and jokes about his brief cameo. Meanwhile, Harry and Marv finally realize that only Kevin is in the McCallister home, and on Christmas Eve, Kevin overhears them discussing plans to break into the house that night. Kevin starts to miss his family and asks the local Santa Claus impersonator if he could bring his family back for Christmas. He goes to church and watches a choir perform, and encounters Marley, who proves the rumors about him are false. Marley points out his granddaughter in the choir, and mentions he has never met her since she is the daughter of his estranged son.
He finds out that it is worth a lot of money, but before he can sell it, it’s lost and he thinks it’s stolen. Yada, yada, yada…he terrorizes a kid in his home, and in the end, the kid didn’t even steal the doll. In 2017, about four million people (11.6% of Poland's population) were watching it on Christmas Eve and in 2018 again in Christmas Eve the film recorded the highest viewership with 4.51 million viewers. On September 15, 2020, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment released Home Alone on Ultra HD Blu-ray in time for its 30th anniversary in the United States. John Candy was available for only one day to film his scenes, which took 23 hours to shoot.
The rest of the cast is filled with veteran comedians, including Rob Delaney , Kenan Thompson , Chris Parnell ,Ellie Kemper , Pete Holmes, Timothy Simons, Aisling Bea, Ally Maki, and Andy Daly. Home Sweet Home Alone is written by Streeter Seidell and SNL’s Mikey Day, who is also set to appear in the film. Thanks to Disney, those fans may finally be getting their Christmas wishes granted. Home Sweet Home Alone is just around the corner, and it could be the long-awaited return to form the series has needed for decades.
Fred’s Garage is not featured in the movie, but definitely a local favorite. Try their Texas Style Brisket Chili and their Blueberry Cobbler for dessert! However, one past face from the franchise that will appear is Devin Ratray, who reprises his role as Kevin's older brother Buzz.
The laughs are steady, the color photography is great and the slight story is probably every boy's fantasy of what it might be like to be left home alone. Add to that the holiday flavor of Christmas and a pleasant musical score by John Williams and you have the makings of a classic. Cinematographer Julio Macat recalled that Pesci was more difficult to work with than Culkin. The older actor believed some of the dialogue was not of a quality commensurate with his acting ability.

Home Sweet Home Alone got negative reviews across the board, which should've been enough to kill the possibility of a sequel. All in all, it's probably best to let sleeping dogs lie and forgo any more Home Alone movies in the future. His Grinch-like sneer, campy performance, and unique flexibility to switch from villain to comic relief do so much for this film. In addition, a whole toy was invented and sold because of this film.
